Dual purpose officer makes you navigation officer and engineer at the same time. The job involves switching from deck and bridge duties to engine room duties every couple of weeks. In short, all activities on a ship are to be executed by this type of officer. I sailed on the largest ships available, worldwide. The majority of trips I spent in Australia, Singapore and New Zealand with other trips going around both capes. I set foot in all continents.
