Samenvatting van Marsja Mudde
Professional experience: with diverse vocal or mixed vocal-instrumental ensembles I have organised and / or sung many concerts in the Netherlands (e.g. in the Utrecht Early Music Festival and in their Fringe concerts) and abroad (e.g. in Georgia, South-Korea, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland).
I am teaching groups and individual singers since 2006, e.g. a course on Hildegard von Bingen's music.
Professional goals: I would like to build out my teaching practice. I would like to sing professionally in more ensembles, and start one myself in the future.
Specialismen
ensemble singing, chant, medieval music, renaissance music, teaching individuals, teaching groups, Hildegard von Bingen, Devotio Moderna, Luther Choräle, early music notation.
Ervaring van Marsja Mudde
Owner, Singer, Teacher and Researcher
Marsja Mudde Muziek
January 2006 – Present (7 years 5 months) 's-Hertogenbosch (Nederland)
I teach individuals and groups in singing early music (technique and interpretation). I sing in diverse ensembles (see elsewhere) and as soloist or freelance singer for projects. I always use the earliest source available for the music I perform. Therefore a large part of my activities is also research into early sources, performance practice, etcetera.
Singer
Ensemble Cantus Modalis
January 2006 – Present (7 years 5 months)
Ensemble Cantus Modalis consists of singers and players who have studied early ensemble music with Rebecca Stewart, who is still the artistic leader of the ensemble. The ensemble often performs with stunningly beautiful programs in the Netherlands, Germany, and other countries (e.g. South Korea in 2007).
Assistant / Organiser
Schola Cantus Modalis
Nonprofit; 11-50 employees; Muziek industry
January 2009 – Present (4 years 5 months)
The educational division of Cantus Modalis - Schola Cantus Modalis - organises project weeks, modal technique days, and modal music days.
Volunteer: singer and teacher
Stichting Per Sonorem Vocis
January 1999 – Present (14 years 5 months)
For this ensemble I voluntarily sing many concerts. Often I sing soloparts and coach others in doing that. I help the conductor in preparing music, e.g. ficta, textplacement, vocal-technical problemsolving.
Independent Early Music Professional
Praetorius recorder ensemble
May 2006 – August 2006 (4 months)
At the Praetorius recorder ensemble, led by Norbert Kunst, I did a project called DOOP! (which is Dutch for Baptising) with psalms from Sweelinck & others. Recordings of these psalms were made as well.

Gregorian Chant and Modern Devotion in the Low Countries (1350-1550)
- January 2012 to Present
Team Members: Marsja Mudde, Margot Kalse, Jos Boerland, Dominic Doyle, Ben Weber, Ad Van der Kouwe, Ellen Pont, Rob HuygensThe project “Gregorian Chant & Modern Devotion in the Low Countries” is a plea for this wonderful late medieval spiritual music, from the Netherlands. It is seldom performed, least of all by professional ensembles like Trigon. This cultural heritage has been preserved in several manuscripts, originating from monasteries and houses of the Sisters and Brethren of the Common Life, as the Modern Devotion movement is also known. Founder of this movement was Geert Groote. Thomas à Kempis was closely associated with it. He is known as the author of The Imitation of Christ (1472). The movement spread around the whole of Western Europe in the 15th century. The project includes concerts by Trigon, vocal ensemble for medeaval music, a cd recording by Trigon by Aliud Records, the edition of a book with photos of the manuscrips, which shall be used in workshops and masterclasses on this theme.

CD recording Isaac / Büchner
- January 2012 to Present
Team Members: Marsja Mudde, Rebecca Stewart, artistic leader, Martin Erhardt, organist, Ensemble Cantus Modalis, Hans-Michael Kissing, recording technicianEnsemble Cantus modalis, lead by dr. Rebecca Stewart, is bringing out a CD with the beautiful Missa Paschale à 6 from Heinrich Isaac. Twelve singers and organ (the eldest playable organ of the world in the Sankt Andreaskirche in Ostönnen, Germany), sing in this project, since it is a so-called alternating mass. This means that e.g. in the Kyrie, the first Kyrie is 'sung' by the organ, the second by the choir, the third by the organ, the first Christe by the choir, etcetera.
In September the recordings took place. The CD is now in press, probably it will be released in January / February. -
