Co-founder at Newcope
Amsterdam Area, Netherlands
I am a tech entrepreneur and applied statistician. My major interest is understanding people's behavior - with a flair for business impact - especially through applying sophisticated statistical techniques to large data sets. Currently, I am the cofounder of Newcope.com, a company that helps virtual goods providers increase revenue.
My work includes the construction - from scratch, in Ruby (on Rails) with C extensions - of the original Wakoopa.com recommendation engine, the co-founding of personalization startup Reccoon.com (runner-up in the Strands $100,000 Call for Recommender Startups), and working as an analyst at hedge fund DeepBlueCapital.com. Also, I've done original empirical research in behavioral economics, will publish a statistical paper that implements a novel deconvolution algortihm in R, and am the coauthor of a medical paper on Achilles tendon ruptures.
I hold a master (Economics, cum laude), three bachelors (Mathematics and Statistics, Economics and Business, and Law), and two minors (Physics, and Computer Science) from the University of Amsterdam.
Business Development, Strategy, Statistics & Stochastics, Behavioral Economics, and R (#rstats, programming).

I was contracted to develop the recommendation engine for Wakoopa.com, a website that tracks software usage. This program gives users recommendations for software items they're not currently using, but might interest them. In this position, I was responsible for both the theoretical and practical parts: design, implementation, programming (in C, Ruby, and Ruby on Rails), extensions, and optimizations.
