I have a large experience in making art and theorising about art. I prefer to stay 'in between' these two disciplines and not privilege one over the other. Doing so givee me the opportunity to speak in a different way about art and culture in general. In an interconected world there's a great need for a discourse beyond traditional boundaries. Art can play an imporrtant role in that process.

This job requires a lot of skills and experience. One can mention the Stadiongebied renovation (Olympic Area) in Amsterdam.Also the Gemeentearchiefterrein (former archive of the local council) in Amsterdam demands different approaches. The township of Oud-Zuid is a very dynamic one: radical changes that will take place because of the upcoming major subway connection. This will produce another demographics of this part of Amsterdam. A refined cultural infrastructure is one of the basic needs to employ this properly to achieve a good living and working environment. The rapid shifts from a goods producing economy into an information producing one also affects this part of the city and demands an adequate reflection and proposing qualities to encounter these changes. The advice committee is not reluctant to bring in some very exciting and interesting solutions. The intertwining of art, culture and economy is a very interesting political challenge to be engaged with.

The contemporary condition of the cultural developments requires a different approach and commitment. One can no longer establish an analysis and produce values from the former position of the observer and its collateral division between consumer and producer of culture. With the upcoming New Media one has become a prosumer, which completely changed the landscape of cultural production and reflection. From this contemporary position educational institutions have to shift their internal structures to employ a more adequate base for knowledge production. Having a binary sensibility for both production and perception I provide in many ways this other way of teaching.

With a great interest in the noninstitutionalized art theories I developed a wide range of topics to bring forward in lectures, conferences and other gatherings. These lectures always contain a specific analysis of art where an 'inbetween' between practice and theory is been held up. Most interest lies in the socalled continental philosophy and continental easthetics. These lectures are given at different institutes: art academies, university conferences and public institutes. At several confrences (for instance: Handwriting in the Age of New Media and The anatomical theatre Revisited) I also held the position of chair.
