International Technical Trainer at OpenText
Amsterdam Area, Netherlands
I am the International Trainer for the Fax & Document Distribution Group at Open Text. This is a fairly unique role, requiring: an ability to relay complex ideas in a simple way, management of complex systems, organizing travel and transportation of equipment to far away (and unsupported) locations, and more.
In the past I have held product management, marketing, and sales engineer roles at Microsoft, NetObjects, PCDocs, and others. I also performed outsourced marketing functions for Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Intel, IBM, and the list goes on.

Drive sales and help generate revenue from Washington-, Oregon-, and Idaho-based State & Local Government (SLG) customers by enabling them to completely understand all of Microsofts products through Product Demos, General platform discussions, Proof of Concept projects, One to Many seminars, and full day Roadshows.
Specific focus areas include Sharepoint Portal Server and Sharepoint Services, Services for Unix, Microsoft and general security, and various development topics.
Discussions with customers occur anywhere from the CxO level, down through Directors, to the individual technical team members. While it is ideal if the discussions can happen in person, time and travel constraints sometime force a phone or LiveMeeting-based conversation.

This was my first real job out of college. It was also the last time I had to wear slacks everyday. PC Docs is now part of a much bigger organization, but back then we were a friendly company in the small college town of Tallahassee, Florida. Its been amazing to see how many of my colleagues there have moved on to do wonderful things.
Looking at my resume from the time, I was doing an impressive job:
•Assisted in the daily management of a complex network including user support and managing interoperability of disparate systems.
•OS: Windows 3.1, 95Beta, NT3/3.51, OS/2, NetWare 286/3.2/4.1/4.11, SCO Unix, BSD Unix, Linux, Banyan Vines, VAX/VMS, Macintosh. (PC DOCS was primarily a Netware / NT shop)
•Software: PC DOCS and PC DOCS Open, Oracle 7, Sybase, MS SQL Server, Lotus Notes, and many others.
